EWS Features
Digital & Analog Forcing - The control system has the ability to force any value for troubleshooting purposes. However, as an added feature, the control system has a field in the signal that displays the actual value (AV field). This value is not forced and displays what the output value of the signal would be if it was not forced. This answers a lot of "what happens if I unforced this trip" questions.
Fast Trend - The control system has the ability to collect up to thirty-two signals at any scan rate up to the scan rate of the processor. This data is placed in a text for further analysis. This fast scanned data can be very useful when troubleshooting high-speed transients or trips.
Point Search - The control system tags any point that has a problem as "bad quality". This utility allows the user to search for all the points that are not in good quality. It can be used as a tool to determine all the bad instrumentation in preparation for an outage or a restart.
Update Tool - This tool allows the system maintainer to verify that all the processors in the system have the latest software and configurations. It generates a list with all the differences found in the expected versus actual configurations. The user can then select which files need to be downloaded.
SOE Stamping - The control system has the ability to time stamp events to a resolution equal to the scan rate of the processors. This currently is a minimum of 20 milliseconds. This data can be dumped into the alarm printer for troubleshooting purposes.
Timers & Counters - The control system features a set of permanent timers and counters. These signals are stored in a file in the control system drops. They can be used to track event counts such as starts and quantities such as run times, etc. This can be used in maintenance planning and warranty administration.
